This exhibition presents a selection of 12 innovative works by emerging practitioners residing in the UAE who have collaborated with Tashkeel through the Tanween design programme and the Van Cleef & Arpels Middle East Emergent Designer Prize.

Tanween Design Programme

Developed over the last five years by participants of the annual Tanween design programme, these furniture and lighting pieces designed and made in the UAE form part of The Tanween Collection today. Part of the programme’s mission is to nurture the ongoing evolution of a UAE design aesthetic. The presented works reflect this through form, function, material and process; from the organic materials of camel leather, khoos, coral and stone to practices integral to UAE identity such as language, crafts, customs and trade.

Van Cleef & Arpels Middle East Emergent Designer Prize

For the very first time, the winning pieces of the Van Cleef & Arpels Middle East Emergent Designer Prize come together.

The initiative seeks to nurture emerging talent across the Arabian Gulf and create global awareness by highlighting the region’s best designs. Each year, emerging designers submit proposals of functional products that embody a specific theme, interpreted through material, form, function or technique.
