Latifa Saeed

Latifa Saeed is an Emirati artist and designer who across the fields of fine art, graphic design, advertising, branding and product design. A graduate of Zayed University, she employs an experimental approach, both conceptually and with the materials and techniques she uses, in her art practice and her design commissions. Her process often starts as a response to nostalgic memories but aims to explore notions of heritage and preservation while attempting to re-invent outdated perceptions of local crafts.

Latifa believes in a dynamic appreciation of the past through actively visualizing inherited knowledge as part of the on-going present by continually challenging and manipulating traditional materials and techniques. Latifa archives lost knowledge about the potential uses and strengths of traditional crafts skills and is interested in sparking life back into old traditions in her own practice.
