Nasir Nasrallah
For artist and curator Nasir Nasrallah, making art is about experimenting with and synthesising materials, be they physical objects, ideas or theorems. His work is a personal response to his environment and the people and places he encounters. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Emirates Fine Arts Society [EFAS] (2011) and Sharjah Art Museum (2009) as well as group shows Sharjah Biennial 11 (2013), Cairo Biennial (2006) and annual EFAS exhibitions (2005–present). He is a 2012 A.i.R recipient and won first prize at the 30th Annual EFAS Exhibition. He curated ‘Stories Yet to Be Told’ (32nd Annual Exhibition, EFAS, 2014) and ‘Questions’ (4th Sharjah Children’s Biennial, 2014) and has served as Vice President, EFAS (2006–2012). Nasir is currently Director of Education, Sharjah Art Foundation and Ambassador, UAE Board on Books for Young People.
Nasir joined Tashkeel in 2012 as Member 232. A 2012 A.i.R programme recipient, he has exhibited with Tashkeel in ‘Metamorphosis’ (2014), ‘Made in Tashkeel’ (2014), ‘Mind the Gap’ (2017) and at Art Dubai (2013).
