Jassim Al Awadhi

Jassim Al Awadhi is an Emirati photographer who holds a master’s degree in Photography from Nottingham-Trent University in the United Kingdom. A forensic expert with the Dubai Police, he worked as the Head of the Photography Department for Forensics and as a deputy lecturer at the Faculty of Arts in Sharjah University.

Al Awadhi also served as the Secretary-General of the Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Photography Award as well as the president of the Abu Dhabi International Association of Photography. He has also judged and chaired several photography and art competitions in the United Arab Emirates.

Al Awadhi has hosted eight personal galleries showcasing his photography in the UAE and has taken part in over 27 exhibitions in the UAE and abroad. Throughout his career, he has attained various accolades and recognitions, most prominently the Emirates Appreciation Award in Fine Arts (photography) in the year 2010.

Al Awadhi is also a regulator contributor to the photographic communities in the UAE and the Arab world through workshops and articles on photography published in various regional newspapers.

Jassim Al Awadhi was a mentor to Jalal Bin Thnaeya for the duration of his participation in the Critical Practice Programme 2019.
