Critical Thursdays: Creative Nonfiction: Critical Thinking Through Writing

Writing nonfiction is often approached as a way of communicating what we know. But it can also be a means of discovering what we don't know. Creative nonfiction allows us to move between observation, memory and research, finding imaginative ways to work with factual material while bringing our own voice to the telling. In doing so, it offers a space for critical reflection.

Through a series of short writing exercises, readings and group conversations, participants will explore creative nonfiction as a tool for critical inquiry and experimentation, developing a short piece of original writing that they may choose to expand into something more substantial after the workshop.

The workshop is designed for participants with some writing experience who are interested in experimenting with creative nonfiction and expanding their writing practice.
