At the Core

Building on Tashkeel's Critical Dialogues and Profession Practice Programme, At the Core provides a unique opportunity to engage with artists living and working across the UAE. The sessions are held on Saturdays with a broad spectrum of artists hosting the group in their studios located across the UAE, from Khor Fakkan through to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Led by Cristiana de Marchi, the visits will shed light on the practices and processes of the artists through an informal approach, intended to encourage dialogue and exchange. Each studio visit is followed by a discussion session about the artist, the work seen and themes that emerged during the visit. The artist’s poetics and practice will be considered, along with their experience and cultural background, the references and possible expansions to a wider circle of peers, and a reflection on available documentation on the artists.
