Turkan Umit Sule

Architect and visual artist, Turkan Umit Sule is a graduate of the Faculty of Architectural at the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. After completing her Master’s in Museum Design in 1990, she pursued a successful career in architecture for over 25 years. She began to focus more on the visual arts following her move to Dubai in 2015.

Turkan's acrylic and oil paintings can best be described as self-reflections on life and human connectivity. Her dancing figures further lend a distinct feature to her paintings; the dynamism of the human body trying to fuse with the energy of colour. Additionally, she uses digital media to enhance her paintings. Her latest work combines different graphic styles into one; integrating her canvas pourings with computer-generated images and collages.

Turkan worked with artists from across the world and attended workshops in Turkey and Dubai. Her paintings have been displayed at various group exhibitions in Dubai. She works mostly from her home-studio in Dubai and attends Tashkeel as a member.
