Saeed AlMadani
Saeed Al Madani studied printmaking at the Royal College of Art, London, where he earned a Master’s degree. His practice draws on elements of conceptual, minimalist, scientific and abstract strategies, here he explores the relationship between language and place, and the process of writing and non-representational art in articulating attachments and in (de)constructing identities. His work also questions how objects and performance combined allow for the construction of meaning, obsession and a sense of place.
Selected exhibitions include ‘Thulathi: Threefold’, Dubai Design Week, Dubai (2018); ‘Nom, Guest Projects’, London (2018); ‘Portrait of a Nation’, ADMAF/me Collectors Room, Berlin (2017); and ‘Emirati Expressions’, Manarat al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi (2015). His work is part of private and public collections such as Royal College of Art Print Collection and ADMAF. He has delivered artist talks internationally on topics concerning space, time and place and is a founding member of Arab Art Salon.
He is an alumnus of the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Emerging Artists Fellowship (SEAF), cohort of 2013-2014, in partnership with Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, USA; and the recipient of the Abraaj Innovation Scholarship Award. He is currently a resident in the 2019 edition of the March Project by Sharjah Art Foundation. Saeed joined Tashkeel as a member in 2014.
