Boushra Almutawakel
Born in Sana’a, Boushra Almutawakel holds a BSBA in International Business from the American University, Washington, DC. She is a founding member of Al Halaqa artist group in Sana’a. Throughout her career, her photography practice has remained dominant and in 1999, she was honoured as the first Yemeni Woman Photographer by Sana’a University. Her work has been published internationally from Yemen Times to El Pais, Beaux Arts, Harper’s Bazaar Art Arabia and The Guardian. It has been acquired by the British Museum; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Barjeel Foundation; and private collectors. A frequent participant in workshops, Boushra is a member of Tashkeel and recently exhibited in Covid Conversations (2020).
