Nora Zeid is an illustrator, designer, and visual artist based in Dubai. Her practice is simultaneously complex and accessible and seeks to spark discourse, without excluding or alienating general audiences. Driven by the desire to re-establish her relationship with her hometown of Cairo, Nora’s body of work currently revolves around visual representations of the city and how it affects people’s relationship with spaces.
After working as a graphic designer at Abjad Design for three years, Nora shifted her focus to her visual arts practice as well as freelance illustration. She has done work for clients such as VICE, NoGood, Matter, Dubai Culture, and Dubai Design District. She holds a B.S in Visual Communication from the American University of Sharjah.
Nora has participated in exhibitions including Cairo Prints Exhibition - Edition II (Cairo, 2021) and SIKKA Art Fair (Dubai, 2019). Her comic titled East of Home has been published in Sharjah Art Foundation’s anthology Corniche 2020.
Nora is a participant of the Tashkeel Critical Practice Programme 2020.

Join Nora Zeid in this workshop on illustrating for commercial projects. Nora will explore the basics of creating designs for clients: from when the client contacts the designer to when the work is delivered and payment is processed. This will include the steps in creating a solid illustration design, covering ideation to delivery. Having transitioned from full-time employment to freelancing, Nora will share her experience and the challenges one might face when it comes to going freelance. She will also present tips on how to improve client-designer communication. The session will include a Q&A session at the end where participants can share their own experiences, exchange anecdotes and stories and learn from each other’s challenges. This also doubles as a networking session.
