There is something tender about working with memory by hand: cutting into a photograph, layering it beneath warm beeswax, watching a familiar image soften, half-conceal, and resurface as something new. In this workshop, inspired by the artistic practice of Fabiola Chiminazzo, participants will use their own photographs, letters, documents, and visual fragments as starting points for making, treating memory as something active rather than fixed. Working with beeswax alongside handmade paper, linen, stamps, and collage materials, participants will cut, rearrange, layer, and combine images to build compositions that evolve as they go — discovering unexpected connections among images, materials, and personal experience. The emphasis throughout is not on technical perfection but on exploration, curiosity, and the process of making. By the end of the session, each participant will have created a unique beeswax-based artwork shaped by their own images and ideas.

Why Choose This Workshop?
This workshop welcomes participants of every level — no previous artistic experience is required, only curiosity and a willingness to explore. Beeswax is a wonderfully versatile material that can preserve, conceal, reveal, and transform an image through layering and touch, making it a rare and tactile way to revisit personal stories. Previously presented in Brazil and the UAE, including at Estúdio Extraordinário in São Paulo and The Arts Club Dubai, the session is designed to be intimate, grounded, and thoughtfully paced — offering a precious opportunity to slow down, reconnect with personal narratives, and experience creative making as a form of presence and emotional connection. Participants are encouraged to bring 6–8 personal photographs or printed documents that hold personal, historical, or symbolic significance.

What Participants Will Learn?
Participants will explore their own photographs and printed materials through collage, and learn the basic techniques for working with beeswax as a medium. They will experiment with layering, cutting, covering, and combining different materials, gaining confidence in handling beeswax over paper, linen, and image. Guided through a personal creative process, they will develop a single artwork from their own visual fragments, attending less to polish than to curiosity and connection. Participants will leave with a finished, one-of-a-kind beeswax artwork shaped entirely by their own images and ideas, along with an approach to memory and material they can carry into their own practice.
