Nurture creative skills and thinking in the Tashkeel Afterschool Arts Club, every Tuesday from 4–6pm (10 September – 26 November). Suitable for 8–14 years, the workshops explore methods and techniques in a variety of disciplines, including product design, textiles, publication, fashion and costume design. Participants are encouraged to develop their own styles and use their creativity to address the topics discussed. Each workshop is rooted in creative critical thinking and dialogue around the themes of sustainability, community, identity and making.
Learn how to weave using coloured threads! Referencing and discussing Hadeyeh Badri’s work in the ongoing Tashkeel exhibition ‘The Alumni Return’, participants will learn the basics of weaving using the provided loom to create a small woven textile piece. At the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a laser-cut loom and the weaving skills to continue making their own woven textiles.
