Point of Encounter brings together four female artists from different backgrounds and experience that, by chance, are
living in Dubai. Each in their own way is a part of the local art scene, but, whilst some of them may know each other, this is the first time that they have shown together. For these artists this exhibition represents both the first “point of encounter” for their work and a personal “point of encounter” for each of them with a place.

The exhibition is a visual commentary on different locations, real or imaginary, and explores the artists’ individual response to these environments. Whilst acknowledging that change is inevitable, each artist has created visual anecdotes, employing symbolic references from the past and the present, to articulate their innermost thoughts. Each of the installations acts as a time capsule, freezing a specific moment in time and encapsulating the artists’ memories of that moment.
