Dubai Holding
Marking the UAE Jubilee, Dubai Holding contracted Tashkeel to commission Emirati artist duo Alia and Maitha Demithan for a 133-metre-long artwork for the urban gallery on Umm Suqueim Road lasting four months. The digital illustration narrates the story of the UAE’s progress over the last 50 years through trade, architecture and urban development, culminating in the country’s most recent pioneering ventures in space exploration. In partnership with Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, Zabeel House by Jumeirah, TIME Onyx Hotel, Hilton Dubai Al Seef.
Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk – Taiko Restaurant
This sizable wall mural ‘Bloom’ pays homage to ‘Kumiko’, a unique Japanese woodwork technique. UAE-based designer Yara Habib’s handmade mural consists of a series of interconnected, intricately patterned wooden panels to emulate the Asian fusion dining experience. From initial consultation and site visits, Tashkeel progressed the project during 2021 through all stages of concept development, fabrication, installation and handover.
ENOC Pavilion, Expo2020
ENOC, the Official Integrated Energy Partner of Expo2020, partnered with Tashkeel to realise the group’s theme ‘Reimagine Energy’ through two monumental pieces of public art integrated within the site’s overall masterplan. Tashkeel worked closely with leading artists, Wissam Shawkat and eL Seed, to develop initial concepts to final technical drawings before handing over to ENOC for fabrication and installation by their approved contractors.
Indigo Intercontinental
The first Hotel Indigo in the MENA region opened in 2020 featuring limited edition and customised furniture pieces by Tashkeel, all of which were inspired by, designed and manufactured in the UAE. Indigo Intercontinental is just one of several hotel properties with which Tashkeel has worked to imbue public and private areas with a sense of UAE identity and contemporary craftsmanship through specially selected furniture and lighting pieces. Other clients include Zabeel House by Jumeirah, TIME Onyx Hotel, among others.
Arabian Travel Market
The stand of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) at the 2019 Arabian Travel Market (ATM at the Dubai World Trade Centre, featuring a curated selection of loaned artworks by Tashkeel by UAE-based artists. Including both wall based and freestanding artworks as well as design pieces, the collection was an integral element of the overall showcase that presented the emirate’s diverse tourism offerings to the local and international travel trade community.
Latifa School for Girls
In 2018, Tashkeel undertook a comprehensive refurbishment of the primary school library, resulting in a specially designed learning environment that would inspire and motivate students to excel. Tashkeel coordinated all phases of the project, from consultation and concept development through to strip-out to shell and core, offsite and onsite fabrication, fit-out and handover. The library’s bespoke wall murals were commissioned from UAE-based Myneandyours, while Studio MUJU undertook furniture design.
Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood
In collaboration with Dubai Culture, Tashkeel commissioned the Cubist-inspired Spanish urban artist Ruben Sanchez’s wall mural in 2013. Featuring a man playing the oud on a traditional Islamic patterned background, the work aimed to reflect the city's oldest residential areas using modern means and colourful geometry, juxtaposed with a black and white freehand style.
