Karima Al Shomely holds a BA in Economics and Accounting (United Arab Emirates University), BFA (University of Sharjah), MFA (University of the Arts London) and PhD in Fine Arts (Kingston University, UK). She is Assistant Professor, University of Sharjah College of Fine Arts & Design. Karima has exhibited prints, photography and installations at many major exhibitions both in the UAE and internationally. Her solo exhibitions have been held at the Sharjah Heritage Museum (2017/18) and Edge of Arabia, London (2014). A frequent participant in Abu Dhabi Art and the annual exhibitions of the Emirates Fine Arts Society, her work has featured in group exhibitions. Highlights include Un Ciel Ouvert sur le Monde Arabe (Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris, 2019), Portrait of a Nation (me collectors room, Berlin, 2017), View from Inside (Fotofest Biennial, Houston, Texas, 2014) and Three Generations (Sotheby’s, London, 2013).
