Ginger Krieg Dosier is the co-founder and CEO of bioMASON Inc. bioMASON uses microorganisms to “grow” bricks as a market viable, green alternative to traditional masonry. Ginger holds a Master of Architecture from the Cranbrook Academy of Art and a Bachelor of Interior Architecture from the Auburn University College of Architecture, Design and Construction. Over the past 10 years, she has devoted concentration in novel research for new material development for the AEC [Architecture Engineering and Construction] sector with environmental focus. Formally trained as an architect, she has additional experience in material science and microbiologically based materials for market viable commercialization. Starting with the question: What if we could grow architectural materials? Research developments started in masonry from using biotechnology to grow bricks. Prior to founding bioMASON she served as a teaching fellow of Architecture at North Carolina State University and an assistant professor of Architecture at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. She co-founded the architecture research office, VergeLabs with her partner Michael Dosier. VergeLabs research topics address topics of net-positive sustainability, performative material architectures, and rapid manufacturing.
