"We are on a material shift within the architectural discipline. Materials that absorb CO2 pollution and respond to the human touch with thermal conditioning are amongst a variety of developments that VergeLabs is exploring. As educators, we seek to balance the integration of research, practice and pedagogy, in the appropriate areas of technology within the research lab, the architectural studio, and the classroom. Our research includes the topics of net-positive sustainability, performative material architectures, and digital/analog translation. It is our hope to look further into the regional context of the United Arab Emirates and surrounding regions for ways of utilizing new materials that respond in a sustainable manner to the environment."
