Elham Shafaei
Elham Shafaei was born in Rasht, Iran. She completed her BA in Fine Art at the University of Science and Culture, Tehran and later moved to Malaysia where she obtained a BA in Fine Art (Papermaking). Her PhD in Fine Art (Painting) examined the role of melancholia in creative life through studio research as well as a written dissertation. The notions of melancholia and loss continue to be integral to her artistic temperament, most recently through melancholic faces, cuttings and stitches that express the idea of being removed, displaced, transplanted and re-attached. Elham is a member of Tashkeel.
