CharLes trained as a business engineer. At the age of 37, she decided to become a full-time artist and enrolled at Les Beaux-Arts de Paris in Michel Gouery’s studio. In 2014, she graduated in conceptual art from the Rhok Academy of Arts in Brussels. She realises conceptual portraits on commission, experimenting with different medium such as etching, oil, mosaic, sound installation, ornamentation and collage. In 2011, she launched the concept ‘Le Salon de CharLes’, which engages a guest speaker in dialogue with the artist resulting in a private event with an invited audience which concludes with the unveiling of a portrait. So far, she has conducted 16 editions, including prominent professionals such as Bose Krishnamachari (Kochi Biennale), Frank de Winne (Astronaut), and Nujoom Alghanem (Poet, Film Director), among others. CharLes is a member of Tashkeel.
