Join expert artist, Wei Meng for a 12-hour course exploring the medium of watercolour through observation and application.
Over the course of four sessions, participants will gain a deep understanding of the fundamental watercolour techniques, making paintings as they progress.
Beginning with an introduction to watercolour tools, Wei will guide participants as they practice basic watercolour techniques by drawing and painting a variety of objects, animals, flowers and landscapes. Sessions will cover wet-on-wet, used to create beautiful bleeds and blooms between areas of colour, allowing the watercolour paint to spread and blend; as well as wet-on-dry, which layers colour. Time will be spent on colour matching and understanding the Munsell Colour Order System, a way of precisely specifying colours and showing the relationships among colour through three attributes; hue, value and chroma. Wei will also discuss different uses of watercolour such as keeping a journal.
At the end of the course, participants will have mastered watercolour skills and created a number of artworks. By continuing to practice and applying the theoretical knowledge explained on the course, they will see their practice grow.
