Screen

Experiment and play in this screen printing workshop with artist Khalid Mezaina! The aim of this workshop series is to introduce the fundamentals of screen printing and how screen printing can fit your current art practice. This workshop should be ideal for artists and designers looking to access new techniques to expand their practice or refresh their knowledge in screen printing. The workshop will be split between 2 sessions, for a duration of 4 hours each, and will include:

– Basic introduction and understanding of tools and terminologies used in screen printing.

– Screen printing with paper stencils.

– Creating stencils by directly drawing onto screens using drawing fluid and screen filler.

– Preparing your artwork/design so it is screen ready

– Screen printing with photo emulsion and the exposure.

– Understanding how to prepare files digitally to print onto acetate/transparent film

– Playful techniques – taping, canning, open screen, mono printing, mark making

– Printing on multiple surfaces – paper, textiles, etc.

By taking this workshop, participants will be confident to use and experiment with screen printing in their current studio practice.
