Step into the vibrant world of Ottoman artistry through this masterclass that offers a balance of learning, practice, and creativity while devel understanding of the key motifs found in Iznik ceramics, such as stylized tulips, carnations, and arabesque patterns.
Session has included practicing drawing traditional Iznik motifs, experimenting with 2-fold , 4- fold and 6-fold geometric divisions to create harmonious designs, and testing a range of colored commercial underglazes to find your own vibrant palette.
You will then transfer your final design onto a bisque-fired plate, apply underglaze painting techniques, and learn how to correct and prepare your work for the final overglazing and firing stages.
By the end of the session, participants will not only have a deeper appreciation of Iznik’s cultural heritage but also a tangible reminder of it, a hand-painted ceramic plate that captures their personal connection to the natural world.
