Along with a BS in Visual Communication from the American University of Sharjah, Khalid holds an MFA in Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design. His commissioned and self-initiated projects range from prints, installations and murals, to designs for publications, stationary, packaging, apparel and textiles. Khalid joined Tashkeel in 2008 and regularly runs workshops in illustration, drawing and screen printing. He is an alumnus of the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Emerging Artists Fellowship (SEAF), cohort of 2014-2015, in partnership with Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, USA.

This crash course in screenprinting is ideal for artists and designers looking to access a new technique to enhance their practice or refresh their knowledge. Covering the fundamentals of screenprinting, including: quick printing using stencils, drawing designs on to the screen using drawing and masking fluid, preparing your artwork/design so it is screen ready making a screen by coating it with a photosensitive emulsion and exposing the image printing a small one colour run onto paper using screens to create experimental monoprints. You’ll leave the workshop with the tools to create innovative experimental prints to add to your practice.
