Join this printmaking workshop and discover the ancient technique of etching.
The intaglio printing method involves using metal plates, such as zinc, copper, or aluminum, to create an image through grooves that trap ink. Whether you're a beginner or simply wish to refresh your knowledge, this workshop is suitable for all.
Working on copper plates, you'll learn how to prepare them and apply hard and soft grounds to create different etched marks. An experimental approach is encouraged through using a range of tools to produce diverse methods of mark making and is ideal for those who enjoy drawing. Participants will learn to print and edition their plates on high quality printmaking papers using our printing press.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have a deeper understanding of intaglio printing, safety and studio etiquette, and the confidence to keep exploring printmaking on your own.
Presented by Tashkeel in collaboration with Sikka Platform and Al Safa Art & Design Library
