Experience the tactile beauty of drawing directly onto a printing plate in this expressive and accessible intaglio workshop. Drypoint Etching introduces participants to one of the most spontaneous techniques in printmaking, where images are incised directly into a metal or acrylic plate using a sharp needle, producing rich, velvety lines and soft, textural tones.
Through guided demonstrations, participants will learn plate preparation, mark-making, inking, and wiping methods that bring out the distinctive character of drypoint prints. Emphasis is placed on building a personal drawing style, exploring texture, and understanding how pressure, burr, and ink handling affect the final image.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will produce their own edition of fine prints that reveal the expressive potential of line and tone unique to drypoint. This course is perfect for artists and printmaking enthusiasts who wish to translate their drawings into deeply tactile, hand-crafted impressions.
