Professional artist James Razko earned his Master of Fine Arts at the New York Academy of Art in 2015. During his time at the Academy, he received the Academy Scholarship, the New Jersey Heart of a Hero Scholarship, was awarded a summer residency in Moscow, and was one of six nominated for the Chubb Fellowship. His work is published in the acclaimed book, The Figure. In 2018, James received a grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation.

Join experienced teaching artist James Razko for an intensive workshop guiding beginner to advanced participants through the process of creating a mixed media portrait using charcoal, acrylic, oil paint and collage.

During the two sessions, James will show how to prepare paper as a painting surface, basic and advanced drawing / oil painting techniques, colour theory, value structure, mark-making and composition. The first class will focus on reating composition and exploring oil, acrylic, charcoal and collage; while the second class will address developing portrait using the different mediums.

This workshop will enable participants of any level to improve their skills in creating mixed media portraits and gain more confidence in using charcoal, acrylic, oil paint and collage.
