Celebrate the UAE’s rich textile heritage in this hands-on workshop inspired by the traditional craft of Sadu weaving. Participants will explore the distinctive colours, geometric patterns and rhythmic designs associated with Sadu before developing their own contemporary interpretation through weaving.
Through guided demonstrations and practical making, participants will learn basic handweaving techniques, experimenting with colour, pattern and repetition to create a unique textile panel. Once completed, they will use simple hand-stitching techniques to transform their woven piece into a functional tote bag.
Combining heritage craft with contemporary design, the workshop encourages creativity, patience and an appreciation for the UAE’s textile traditions. Each participant will leave with a handcrafted bag that carries their own interpretation of Sadu.
