"Although most countries in the Arab world have gained their political independence, I feel that we, as Arabs, are still colonized. This time, the colonization is psychological; it is in our minds. The more we are exposed to WEstern culture, the more of their traditions we start to adopt, thus losing our identity and sense of moral values. The "Arab" identity is now merely a cover, an in some cases, it is just a name." (Artist statement, 2008)
