Ranim Al Halaky
Ranim Al Halaky is a Lebanese-Syrian graphic designer and visual artist. She graduated from the American University of Beirut with a BFA in Graphic Design in 2015. Her approach emphasises on the contemporary and experimental use of typography as a visual element, blending culture, poetry and storytelling. Her work and research vary from print to 3D objects and experiences, leading to experiential designs. Her project book/object, ’50 Metres of Omaya’s Storytelling’ received the 2015 Areen Award for Excellence in Graphic Design in Lebanon, the 2016 NYC Print Magazine Merit Award for Typography and Lettering, the 2017 International Graphic Design Award and was published by the AIAP Women in Design Awards, Italy. She has directed cultural projects including the UAE Year of 50, the 50th National Day Celebration brand and the Year of Sustainability project with the Dubai-based studio, Tinkah, along with other projects such as Expo2020 signage pictograms, UAE Pavilion at Expo2020 and Floriade2022, and the Women's Pavilion branding at Expo2020. In December 2022, she became an independent graphic designer and artist focusing on cultural projects and research in the UAE and wider region, subsequently working on the Doha Horticultural Expo and COP28.
