Rachael Kewley
- Born:
- 1974
Rachael Kewley (b. Dubai 1974) is a Visual Artist and ceramic sculptor who draws inspiration from her intrepid Journeys living and working throughout the Gulf for the past decade. Her art practice investigates functional objects from daily life and juxtaposes different environments to displace meaning and context. Her work addresses universal themes of gender roles, values and belief systems to question social and political norms. Her dialogues are subtle, multi-layered and instill nuances of humour to challenge boundaries for inclusion and cultural diversity.
Kewley graduated with a BA (hons) in Visual Communications from Edinburgh College of Art, (1996) and awarded a Master of Science in IT Multimedia from Napier University, Scotland (1999). Her work is widely published and she has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the UK and UAE, including the Sharjah Art Foundation in 2015 and 2016.
