Gita Meh

Born:
1963
Home Country:
Iran
Disciplines:
Painting, Photography

Gita Meh was born in Iran in 1963. In 1963 during the Iraq-Iran war, she migrated with her family to Germany, where she studied in Stuttgart. She pursued her studies in Florence and then at the California Institute of Art, and there she lives and worked in Los Angeles. She practiced art which combined both the cultures of the Middle East and the West; Gita had always a burning desire to explore the advantages of two civilisations. Her drawings are inspired by her personal history and introduce a new form that presents contemporary society. She rebuilds generations of Islamic and Middle Eastern art in the form of conceptual art.
