Aanchal Jain

Aanchal Jain is a self-taught artist whose practice is influenced by the common, recurring sights in the outside space. Inspired by Dubai’s transformation by investigates the act of construction, an occupation tightly woven in our society, she uses grassroot materials employing a range of apparatus like nuts, screws, bolts, manhole covers, concrete road barriers, crane towers, steel and wooden piles, bulldozers, dredging machines and excavators, and illustration; lacing the illustration with Dubai’s history starting at the Creek. Photowalks by Gulf Photo Plus and Night School 2023, Jameel Arts Centre complemented her research. A resident of the UAE for more than a decade, Tashkeel was the first place she connected with. Aanchal is a member of Tashkeel.
