Discover the harmony between clay and brush in this immersive two-session workshop that brings together ceramic handbuilding and the timeless beauty of traditional Chinese underglaze painting.

Session 1: Handbuilding – Slab Technique for Plate Making
Guided by an expert ceramicist, participants will explore the slab-building technique to craft their own ceramic plate. From shaping and texturing to refining the form, this hands-on session is ideal for both beginners and experienced makers looking to deepen their practice.

Session 2: Chinese Underglaze Painting
Led by renowned Chinese artist Vera Meng, this session invites participants to explore the elegance of traditional floral and bee motifs. Using circular composition as a base, participants will sketch the desert rose, refine their brushwork, and apply underglaze techniques to bring their designs to life—focusing on colour blending and fine line detail.

By the end of the series, each participant will take home a handcrafted ceramic plate that blends sculptural form with painterly expression—an object that celebrates both craftsmanship and cultural tradition.
