Tashkeel Unveils Exciting 2024 Summer Season Art Workshops for All Ages

Tashkeel has launched an exciting program of summer workshops for aspiring artists and designers of all ages, with classes covering everything from digital art to oil painting, and Summer Camps for young people aged between 7 to 11 and 12- to 16- years old.

Among the highlights will be a special painting workshop led by the respected Emirati artist, Mohammed Al Astad, who has participated in over 300 group exhibitions and 20 solo shows worldwide, and whose works are included in several major collections.

Presented by Tashkeel in collaboration with Sikka Platform and Al Safa Art & Design Library, Al Astad will conduct the Painting Alla Prima workshop on 14 July, where attendees will be guided by the master painter in the ‘alla prima’ painting technique that is known for giving immediacy and expression in the use of acrylic paint.

Other adult workshops include art criticism, oil painting and digital artmaking using the graphics editor Procreate, while teenagers aged between 12 to 16 can take part in sessions on paint and texture, art and robotics and mural painting.

Tashkeel’s two Summer Camps – one for teenagers and one for children – will offer a wide range of cultural activities in July. The five-day Summer Camp for 12- to 16-year-olds, which starts on 21 July, includes classes on painting, murals and art and robotics.

There is also a dedicated five-day children’s Summer Camp, for kids aged 7 to 11, offering exciting art and design workshops to encourage self-expression and provide a daily dose of creative exploration.

Participants in the Summer Camps can either attend the whole week or participate in specific workshops that interest them.

“Tashkeel’s goal is to strive to create accessible spaces for UAE residents and visitors of all ages to interact with and create art, and our summer program provides a broad range of educational and artistic opportunities. Giving people the opportunity to create and learn from artists and practitioners is a fundamental part of our mission,” said Karam Hoar, Marketing & Communications Manager, Tashkeel.

“We are very grateful to our collaborators at Sikka Platform and Al Safa Art & Design Library for their support, and to all our workshop instructors for sharing their time and expertise over the summer to enable people to expand their creative horizons,” he added.

As well as a compelling schedule of workshops, Tashkeel is hosting guided tours of the ‘Made in Tashkeel’ exhibition. These tours are led by Tashkeel staff in the presence of up to 20 exhibiting artists. The ‘Made in Tashkeel’ exhibition ends on 27 August and members of the public are encouraged to book for the remaining exhibition tours.
