Tashkeel is pleased to present SALAM: A Language of Peace, a group exhibition curated by Ibrahim Zaki, bringing together contemporary artists and designers exploring Arabic calligraphy and typography through the lens of reflection, spirituality, and peace during the month of Ramadan.
The exhibition approaches the Arabic letter not only as a vehicle of language, but as a visual form capable of conveying emotion, contemplation, and cultural memory. Through a range of contemporary practices, participating artists reinterpret calligraphic traditions and typographic structures, transforming words and letterforms into visual compositions that invite quiet reflection.
Drawing from themes closely associated with Ramadan—compassion, patience, mercy, unity, and inner peace—the exhibition explores how Arabic script can communicate these values beyond text. The works presented move between traditional calligraphy, experimental typography, and abstract interpretations of the Arabic letter, reflecting the diversity and evolving nature of Arabic visual culture.
Presented during Ramadan at Tashkeel, the exhibition offers visitors a contemplative space where language, art, and spirituality intersect. SALAM: A Language of Peace invites audiences to encounter Arabic letters as forms of reflection and visual meditation, offering a moment of pause within the rhythm of the holy month.
