Vivi Zhu

Vivi Zhu is a Chinese-born award-winning documentary filmmaker, artist, and social entrepreneur whose interest lies in discovering and telling micro- cosmic stories that reflect bigger social-political pictures. Zhu’s interdisci- plinary work explores the symbiosis relationship between the environment and the body inspired by the emancipation of the performability of human experience. Her work playfully and subversively inverts the makeshift cultur- al identity through a practice-led research approach. Zhu has covered stories across Cuba, China, and the UAE. As a director, her documentaries have been broadcasted on NHK Japan, acqui-missioned by Al Jazeera Witness program. As an artist, her works have been exhibited at The 13th Shanghai Biennale, Bayt AlMamzar, etc.
