Jolaine Frizzel

As Director of The Institute for Emerging Art, Jolaine develops and oversees programmes and facilitates creative projects, forming partnerships with leading institutions regionally and internationally. She earned her MA in Art History from the University of Western Ontario (2004) and holds a BFA (Photography, 2001) and BA (Art History, 2000) from the University of Calgary. Formerly a gallery director in Zurich, London and Dubai, she has worked for over 12 years in commercial galleries and was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the gallery including managing their yearly exhibitions, curation, business development, writing promotional material, developing artists’ texts and establishing key relationships with cultural players. Jolaine has curated external exhibitions at The Brunei Gallery and Maraya Art Centre, to name a few. She has moderated discussions about creative practitioners, led seminar modules and has written for ArtAsiaPacific and Canvas, among others.
