"Generally, I am interested in ideas of the real and illusory, which evolves through research of actual and fictional moments - through literature, storytelling and documented events. In the construction of these artworks, I attempt to construct an atmosphere that somehow evokes another reality through the use of sculpture, photographic processes, sound, video, and performance.

The element of water bares a strong presence in my work. It correlated to the movement necessary with materials, but since elements of water translucent, they begin to flow into each other, creating their ow form of fluidity and boundaries. In my current research I am preoccupied with the notion of Atlantis, but more so of the great deluge. As natural disasters have increasingly entered public consciousness (through endless news coverage, like CNN's live in the "eye of the storm") and reality becomes even more like nightmare, "the world that drowned" becomes ever more plausible. There is a sense of relaying the disaster rather than striving for utopia.

In my sculptural installations and lenticular photographs, I attempt to draw in the viewer so they are not just looking into something, as a contained space, but are transported into it. It is like a moment lost or on the edge of something about to happen. The work is ultimately derived from my interest in the erosion, the almost everyday disappearance of private space: escape - the dreamscape, in-between states that are fluid and aqueous. I strive to realize the relationship of the banal and the magical as they are experienced everyday, and weave together these experiences." (Artist statement, 2008)
