Professional artist James Razko earned his Master of Fine Arts at the New York Academy of Art in 2015. During his time at the Academy, he received the Academy Scholarship, the New Jersey Heart of a Hero Scholarship, was awarded a summer residency in Moscow, and was one of six nominated for the Chubb Fellowship. His work is published in the acclaimed book, The Figure. In 2018, James received a grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation.

Join professional artist James Razko to learn the fundamentals of drawing with pencil and paper while observing and recording the natural world.

This introductory course to capturing landscapes will explore the traditional skills and ideas considered the very foundations of drawing and painting realistically. Over four sessions held at Tashkeel and the nearby Nad Al Sheba Public Park, participants will familiarize themselves with line, value and gesture and learn the concepts of form and light while developing the ability to see and understand visual information more clearly.

By the end of the course, participants will have gained confidence and strengthened their technical ability to capture nature through drawing and painting.
