Tashkeel presents the second edition of 'Design + Making UAE' at Dubai Design Week 2019 from 11 - 16 November at Building 10, Dubai Design District (d3). The Tashkeel pop-up space will focus on local production, manufacturing and design practice in the UAE through the Meet the Maker demonstrations, the Tanween Majlis, drop-in design advice surgeries and free family workshops.
Tashkeel will also be at Downtown Design (Editions) revealing the latest additions to The Tanween Collection. The new products by designers Abdalla Almulla, Lana El Samman and Yara Habib were designed through the Tanween design programme 2019, who explored over the past year the UAE environment and landscape to inspire the design, process and production of their final furniture/lighting products. Every year, Tashkeel selects 3 - 4 design practitioners through open call to participate in the Tanween programme, which supports the development of high-end, limited edition products inspired by, designed and made in the UAE.
Meet the Makers (Make Works UAE):
Meet local manufacturers, fabricators and artisans that are part of Make Works UAE. The demonstrations offer creatives a chance to meet with a local manufacturer, find out more about how and where to match with a maker in the UAE, and ask questions about materials for limited editions or one-offs.
