Processes and experimentation

I am currently researching folklore from the GCC and exploring different ways to visually tell these stories. At this time, I have been exploring ways of making these stories come to life through movement and gesture and have been contemplating whether I want the audience to participate in the storytelling process. I'm still in the experimental stage and have been playing with different processes and whilst drawing on what does and does not work.
My first experiments have involved sourcing readymade toys from the local souk in Muscat. Some of them are manually operated and some by battery. I have been creating hybrids and transforming their original identities to give them new lives. With the addition of paper cuts or found objects and working quickly so the outcomes are intuitive rather than too well thought out, characters are starting form for me to develop and refine.
