Interleaved blackboards, with their simple illusionary paintings permanently alter when changing position, light or time of day. The intended illusion dissolves beyond recognition, becomes obliterate – and yet as monumental landmarks they represent a promise of pleasure and fortune.
This is what I am interested in with my art work: The fascination of installation and decomposition, the process of perception, the appearance - the outer shell being put into scene, and yet remaining only a phenomenon.
Dubai in general, with its breathtaking construction, is the perfect platform in which this interplay materializes, and the Dubailand boards in particular are an ideal and exemplary subject of reality, promise and recognition.
I understand my work as an action, as an approach. It shows my experience with the visual world, dissolved and put back together in clusters of pigment.
