Moza Al Matrooshi

Nationality:
Emirati

Moza Almatrooshi is based between the UAE and the UK, where she recently obtained an MFA degree from Slade School of Fine Art. Her practice picks at tension points that exist between language and translation, guest versus host power struggles and ways in which food and magical realism can metamorphose and engulf silence. The work often explores systems that rely on the homogenous churn of identity politics, by ways of engaging in erasure – and materialises into various mediums such as text, lens-based media, and performance. Recent work has been shown in Sharjah, London and Amman.

Moza joined Tashkeel in 2013. She is an alumna of the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Emerging Artists Fellowship (SEAF), cohort of 2014-2015, in partnership with Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, USA
