Urban explorer Jalal Jamal BinThaneya, born 1986, was first exposed to photography in2012 during his campaigning trip across the Arabian desert, helping support people with special needs. He started photographing while stationed at a port development in Jebel Ali, Dubai in 2013. Starting with photographing the demise of an iconic marine tower built in the 1980’s, he stared to visit areas that would soon share the same fate.
His main areas of interest are documenting the way society interacts with their surroundings, through development and abandonment throughout the United Arab Emirates.
